Remote Startup/Shutdown Add-in Available for Windows Home Server

Sat, May 5, 2007 | Terry Walsh

With the release of the Windows Home Server SDK a few weeks ago, developers can now write their own “add-in” applications for Windows Home Server. The first add-ins are now starting to emerge!

Evangelos Hadjichristodoulou has written a small add-in that allows you to remotely start up and shut down any of the home computers on your network from the Windows Home Server Console, allowing you to save energy when you’re away by shutting down yor PCs, and starting them up remotely when you need them! Do I need to say that you should keep your home server switched on at all times to do this? No, thought not. :-)

You can download the add-in at the WHS Beta Forums.
