Oooh Microsoft Marketing, you do do some weird things from time to time.

Not only has Code2Fame brought Windows Home Server add-in innovation to a grinding halt (at least publically), according to this thread on the MS Forums, only North Americans can enter the competition in the first place:

You are eligible to enter this Contest if you are a legal resident of the 50 United States, District of Columbia or Canada (but not a resident of Quebec). Contestants must be of legal adult age for their region or province (in the US it’s 18).

Obviously, this is due to legal terms and conditions of running such competitions, but at one fell swoop, Code2Fame has halted the release of community developed add-ins globally and alienated a bunch of non-North American home developers, who can’t win the prize and can’t release their add-in due to fears that some bright spark in the US is going to take their add-in and score big with it.

If you’re the guy or gal who came up with Code2Fame, you didn’t really think it through, did you? Read this and do better next time.
