Following today’s launch of Windows Home Server, Velocity Micro now have their NetMagix HQ Home Server available to order via their website, and contrary to original reports that it will be shipping today, it will in fact ship on the 8th December 2007 at a base price of $899.
The base spec is as follows:
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.6GHz 1Mb Level 2 Cache
Memory: 1Gb Ram
Storage: 500Gb SATA Hitachi Drive 7200rpm 16Mb cache (upgradeable to 4 Tb as priced option)
USB 2.0 Ports: 4 (2 front, 2 rear)
Firewire Ports: 2 (rear)
eSATA: 2 (rear)
Ethernet: Gigabit (x2 rear ports)
Dimensions: 4.7″(h) x 13.2″(d) x 15.9″(w)
Interestingly, the press release I received this morning stated that the system would ship at $999 base price, but this appears to have been immediately reduced to $899, which still seems high for a 500Gb unit in the USA.
