Help! I Have a Problem With My New Home Server…

Sun, Dec 23, 2007

Bugs, Hardware, Software

If, in the next few days, you open up a big present and inside you discover a Windows Home Server, then you’re pretty much guaranteed a fun (and busy) holiday period setting up your new home server and learning about what it can do.

Sometimes, with any computer, you can hit a problem, or need to ask a question about something that’s bothering you. The great news is, that there are a lot of online information resources on hand if you need help. Here’s a few of them:

We Got Served - well, if you’re reading this, you’re already here! Use the search bar above to see if we can help, or feel free to use the Contact link above to get in touch any time. We also have a set of How To Guides available which may also be of use.

Windows Home Server Forums- the forums are populated by a wide range of experts who know WHS inside out, like Ken Warren, Tom Zeigmann, Andrew Edney, Brendan Grant and others. Best of all, they get a kick out of helping people, so head on over and ask away.

Windows Home Server Solution Center - Microsoft have put a great, user-friendly front-end on to their Knowledge Base resources just for Windows Home Server, and is the best place to seek out detailed reports and troubleshooting support for specific WHS issues.

HP MediaSmart Server Support- If you have a MediaSmart Server or not, HP have a great set of documents for supporting Wndows Home Server, many of which are relevant to all WHS systems.

Phill Churchill’s Blog- Phill is a WHS enthusiast who has been running a blog since the summer, covering a wide range of WHS issues in detail. Worth checking out.

Hopefully, you won’t need any of these resources over the holidays as you’ll be too busy having fun with your new home server, but it’s worth taking a look to become familiar with them in case you need to use them in the future.

Happy holidays!
