So, wrapping up the HP MediaSmart announcement for CES, comes a range of HP MediaSmart TVs.
Remember that MediaSmart Receiver I told you about earlier? It’s built-in, so it’ll work with your home server and bundles in Extender for Windows Media Center (still a mouthful) for good meansure. You also get 1080p resolution, 3 HDMI ports and built in wired and wireless network connectivity.
I’m guessing it comes in a bunch of sizes - they forgot to mention which ones.
And that’s your lot when it comes to new HP MediaSmart products at CES next week. Probably not worth going now.
Seriously though, I’m looking forward to checking these out next week. If you have any questions you want answering about them, the comments box is your friend.

Hi Terry,
Quick question, we curretly live in Denver, CO. USA and are looking to replace an older rear projection RCA set. However we are moving in June ‘08 to Dublin, IE. I searched the HP UK (very quick search, might have missed it) site and did not find a reference to the mediasmart line of TVs. So my question is, does HP sell these in the UK? Would a US version work (I would expect that the tuner is not multi system but just NTSC/ATSC… did not check this) does it have a universal powersupply? TIA.

Terry,
I have both an HP Media TV, and the HP Mediasmart Home Server - but I can’t seem to get the TV to be able to
see the Home Server (it CAN see all my other home PC’s - just not the home server) - any idea what I am not doing
right? I have photo sharing, music sharing, etc - all enabled from the home server - I bought both on the promise
they work SOOOOOO well together - but still being frustrated by the lack of seeing each other at all.
Help?

Todd,
Do you have media sharing enabled on your home server? Check the Settings > Media Sharing dialog in the WHS Console… this must be switched on for any DMR to see your home server…

I’ve just got the new Sanyo projector XHD790, the picture is out of this world. Better than any hd tv or plama that i have seen in Dixson and at just £638, it a lot cheaper too!
