Velocity Micro NetMagix HQ Home Server

Back in October we revealed that Velcotiy Micro would be launching a Windows Home Server model, based on the Intel Entry Storage Server reference design. There was a lot of excitement around the hardware spec, and then….. silence. Even worse, the product was pulled from Velocity Micro’s website over the holidays.

Seems like Intel is finally getting its act together and ramping up production of the units, with both Velocity and Fujitsu-Siemens about to receive stock at last. The NetMagix HQ Home Server is now listed once again at Velocity Micro’s website, and is available for pre-order, which a target shipping date of 30th March 2008. Base Price is $899 for which you get the following spec:

Is it just me, or is that thing really ugly?

Seems a bit pricy compared to other home server systems.

I could build a system with much better specs, for less…
