Add-In: To Desktop

Sun, Feb 17, 2008 | Terry Walsh

A new add-in has been released courtesy of the official WHS Forums, called To Desktop.

To Desktop allows you to minimize, close or exit full screen from the WHS console.  The UI is a tab in the settings window.

The add-in has been written by C Hanlon, who writes:

I consider the plug-in to be beta status. I doubt I’ll ever change the actual actions performed however I may change the UI or name because I’m not satisified with either. That said, no one has tested it but me.

There is some redundancy with exit fullscreen and minimize. Exiting full screen places a title bar around the WHS console from which you can minimize.

The close command sends a close event to the WHS console window. This is the same as if you clicked the ‘X’ on the window. If that fails then you have the option of killing the process. Killing the process may result in some undetermined results (although I’ve killed the console plenty of times and never had any issues).
