We Got Served

Things are really now starting to motor here at WGS, and with the forums opening up a few weeks ago (with now over 1000 members, and a lot more guests who haven’t registered yet) and getting on for 200,000 visits a month to the site, I’ve had to move up to the top tier shared hosting package available from our server hosts. (No, I wouldn’t dream of hosting WGS on my home server :))

The next step (in a few nonths time, given traffic growth on the site) will be to move to a dedicated server for WGS, at which point, bandwidth etc doesn’t become an issue as it’s our own server. Hurrah! The support from our advertising partners is really helping us pay for the day to day traffic and fees for the site currently (thanks guys!) so now I need to stick a bit of cash away for the (inevitable) move to a dedicated server.

So, you’ll see that there’s now a PayPal donation area in the right hand sidebar, (cunningly named “Support WGS” about half way down) which (hopefully, if it works!) can be used to support the running costs of WGS, if you wish.

I guess the obligatory reminders apply here that there’s a few people who contribute a huge amount of time (and in my case, time and money!) to make WGS the kick-ass community it is.. So, if you love what we do, and want to support us, then feel free to use the donation button - whether you can afford $1 to $10,000, it all helps. It’s dead easy to use, just select your currency, and amount you wish to donate (don’t worry about the Website box) and click the button, and you should be magically transported to Paypal. If the above doesn’t work - do let me know via the Contact form!

If you do make a donation, and you’re a forum member, we’ll recognise this on the forums by placing you in a new WGS Supporter member category which may have a couple of little bonuses and surprise giveaways/competitions through the year. We’ll see what we can do
