surely this “power saving” add-in can be re-produced on a custom system.
I reckon using sheduled task manager with “shutdown.exe -s” set to run whenever you want.
Then its just a case of getting it to turn on, theres an option inside sheduled tasks to “wake the computer up” to perform a task. So making a dummy task that just wakes the computer up whenever you set it to. Or using the RTC resume feature inside the BIOS of the motherboard.
Another method I thought about could be using the Wake up On Lan feature common to most motherboards. Everytime a pc on the network is powered on a small WOL script is run which turns on the home server (if it isnt already on).
