Iomega Drop Windows Home Server-Based HomeCenter

Wed, Mar 12, 2008 | Terry Walsh

Interesting news today from Personal Computer World today, that Iomega have decided not to release their planned Windows Home Server product, but will instead release a Linux based NAS product.

Iomega claim that the hardware logo requirements set by Microsoft are too high to allow Iomega to price their planned product low enough for their customers.

“Article not found” for me. Wonder if IOMEGA had them take it down.

They’re that worried over getting the MS logo on their product? Iomega is a lot more well known, I think, than say, Tranquil. They ought to just bring out their product and let it rest on their own brand name. Maybe they’re still not over the “click of death”.

My own answer to OMEGA is that I have bought a one TB from WD in COSCO the second time after I have already spend on a 500 GB drive enclosure again from WD and like any other drive enclosure that install on windows it was a breze to install on Windows Home Server ie 2 min from the console of Windows Home Server to add the HD what IOMEGA could offer me more? Maybe they see that a kiss of Death as it have open a brand new market to the manufacturer of HD were and addition to internal or external is almost as easy, meaning it just and extension of “D” drive

For minimum requirement to hight it is funny a PIII I megahertz and 512 Mb of RAM and one gigabite network connection and a minimum partition of 20Gb for the “C” dive partition what it so hard in that to delivers? any celeron or sempron as I have one will do the trick and for the RAM you always double to make safe and voila if you don’t want to be a cheap one and that it. Monsieur est servi.
