Another Windows Home Server Bug Fixed - No, Not That One.

Tue, Mar 25, 2008

Bugs, Windows Home Server

The Windows Home Server Team today announced that a fix for a well documented “random expiration notice” bug would be hitting Windows Update this evening.

Those of you with OEM systems (for example, the HP MediaSmart Server) may have noticed the bug already - you receive a random notification that Windows Home Server has expired, with a prompt to activate the software. This hotfix will ensure that you will no longer receive this message.

That is…. as long as you have Windows Update set to receive and install automatic updates.

Does this mean we’ll get our POWER PACK 1 now? My 64bit Workstation could really do with it!

Nope, we’ll get it when they’re ready to release it, and I don’t know if they are just yet.
