MVP Summit Day 1: We Got Started

Windows Home Server

The 2008 MVP Summit kicked off yesterday with a half day session which included a great presentation from outgoing MVP General Manager Sean O’Driscoll on the power of social networksin the Web 2.0 era and their impact on business (I’m a Marketer by trade, so found this really interesting as a lot of the clients I work with are excited by the possibilities in this space), along with a series of sessions hosted by MVPs and Microsoft employees on a wide range of subjects around the MVP Program and elsewhere.

In the evening, we got the chance to meet our MVP leads (in-country MS employees who administrate the MVP programme) as well as hang out and meet a wide range of other MVPs from around the world - over 1700 of them!

I didn’t get the chance to say hello to all of them, but did bump into guys I’ve met previously like Ed Bott, as well as MVPs from the US, Brazil, the Lebanon and Poland - the diversity of the MVP programme is fascinating and creates a great opportunity to learn not just about people’s technical discipline, but also about their culture.

Tuesday is where the MVP Summit really kicks on, starting two days of deep dive sessions with the Windows Home Server Product Team. Really looking forward to catching up with the guys and seeing what the future holds. I’ve got your list of desired future features tucked safely in my bag too, and we’ll spend some time today talking through them.
