Credit Crunch Hits MAXDATA - Warranty Information Released

Back in November 2007 Microsoft announced new hardware partners for the Windows Home Server, amongst these were the German based company MAXDATA who use the brand name Belinea accross a range of IT products including desktop PC’s, Laptops and displays.

The Belinea Home Server product is the o.center, a tower style Windows Home Server available in a striking orange and white or just plain white.

We Got Served have been trying unsuccessfully  for some time in the UK to get a review model to add to the line up of WHS hardware reviews already posted.

Today, in what appears to be a general email to anyone who has had any email contact with MAXDATA UK, they state; “We want to inform you that the member of the MAXDATA group, MAXDATA UK Ltd. has filed for insolvency proceedings against its assets”.  A Local Court in Essen, Germany has appointed a preliminary insolvency administrator.

The email goes on “As a consequence of the restructuring measures on the UK market the preliminary insolvency administrator has agreed with the management of MAXDATA Benelux B.V., that the sales and service activities on the UK market are to be conducted by MAXDATA Benelux B.V.

With immediate effect, MAXDATA Benelux B.V, will therefore take over the sales of the products in the UK. In order to conduct business on the UK market, the established sales team of MAXDATA Benelux B.V., is made available to you.”
Register Hardware posted on the 25 June that Maxdata “has gone bust” and filed for insolvency proceedings in Germany. This appears now to affect subsidiaries in Germany and abroad, with the exception of the sales companies in Switzerland (Baar) and the Netherlands (Maxdata Benelux, Etten-Leur).
No further Information is currently available on either the MAXDATA UK or Belinea web sites - if you own the o.Center, have you been contacted by the company with regard to your warranty?
Warranty update.

Update: MAXDATA have released today (11 July 2008)  a statement outlining the position regarding warranty for both MAXDATA and Belinea products.

Any products purchased after the 25th June will still be covered by the normal Maxdata warranty and that funding is being set aside to assure that in the future all warranties will be secured.

The full statment can be found here.
