Back in November of last year when Microsoft announced the availability of Windows Home Server the presskit also included several industry partner press releases.
One of them was from Avira announcing Windows Home Server support for their security product with a tight Windows Home Server Console integration.
While the official announcement did not state a release date Avira always told people to expect it in Q2 2008. A quick check on the calendar reveals that this timeframe has now passed without any further news or a beta showing up on their website. We have now learned that the release has been postponed to Q1 2009 - apparently due to a lack of market demand.
With a couple of competitors already in the market with final releases or beta versions, HP announcing to release a trial of McAfee Total Protection with the next free software update for the HP MediaSmart Server and the annoying data corruption bug this does make sense. Guess we will have to wait a little longer to play around with a solution from Avira - I am looking forward to this as Avira AntiVir Personal for home computers is a great product.
