The leaks regarding Vista Media Center’s TV Pack have not stopped. Ben Drawbaugh and endgadgetHD got a chance to put the RTM build of VMC’s TV Pack through it’s installation paces. Other than the previously reported “missing” features, H.264 and DirceTV, the one item that I noticed was that it required a complete reinstall of Vista.
Native QAM support is a very nice feature to see, but I am beginning to understand why there are rumors regarding Microsoft’s possible release only to OEM’s. Do you really want to reinstall Vista to get these new Media Center features?

Absolutely. I would totally reinstall Vista on my mediacenter just to get clearQAM. Without a doubt.

Seems like you don’t have to reinstall the system anyway:

Before this whole saga started I was actually holding off reinstalling my mediacenter PC as I was waiting for the Fiji release. My plan was then to utilize my new home server by reinstalling the mediacenter and take backups along the way so that I in the future would be able to revert back to any desired state like; Clean Vista+SP1, SP1+TV-Pack, with MyMovies, MyMovies+TVlibrary, etc.
So I would be more than happy to reinstall my machine. I’m not going to download the TV pack floating around out there. My VMC only get updates from MS or no updates at all, I’m not going to risk getting a bad file on my system and even more important on my home network.

Hopefully, we will all know the full scoop in early September. I am not optimistic about it being good news, but you never know.

Considering the fact that it has been leaked already, and the shear desire to have it. Microsoft has only two options really, release it to everyone or force people who need it to piracy.
Considering that fact that Microsoft has been doing very well lately and been heading in a direction that I like, I firmly believe they will release it to us. I really hope they do.

We will all know Sept. 3rd.
