August 12th is a day known in history as the date Cleopatra committed suicide in 30 BC, the day Britain decared war on Austria-Hungary in 1914 to start World War 1, and in 1981, the day the IBM PC was released. On Tuesday 12th August 2008 however, Windows Home Server Power Pack 1 will be released via Automatic Update to all home servers.
All home servers set to automatically download and install updates from Microsoft, which aren’t already running Power Pack 1 will download and install the new version of the software.
As many of you will know, Power Pack 1 brings critical bug fixes and a a number of great new features, meaning it is a must have update for every home server owner.
If you don’t currently have Automatic Updates switched on, it’s a great idea to do so as you automatically get all critical security updates installed on your home server as soon as they’re available.
If you’ve been running a beta version of Power Pack 1, get ready for the final release by uninstalling your beta version via Add/Remove programs in the home server’s Control Panel.
You’ll know when the update has installed, as you’ll be prompted to upgrade the Windows Home Server Connector on each of your home computers. Installation should be without issue, but let us know via the WGS forums if you have any problems.

Given some of the comments on the HP update for HPMSS about the sequence of loading, should I expect this to break things?

“If you’ve been running a beta version of Power Pack 1, get ready for the final release by uninstalling your beta version via Add/Remove programs in the home server’s Control Panel.”
What specifically need uninstalling? There is no beta version listed in my Add/Remove programs list.
Thanks,
AP

If you have the Beta version installed, you will need to ensure you have the ‘Show Updates’ box ticked in the Add/Remove Programs applet.

endeavour_uk - it shouldn’t break anything, but if you have the HP update add-ins installed, you’ll find it takes a little longer for PP1 to install and storage to balance post-update.

I have installed the english version of power pack 1, but I would like to install the norwegian version. Is that possible? Can I just uninstall and windows update will give me the correct version automatically? Thanks.
