Thank you for the writeup Terry.

Now that PP1 is out and the Bug is fixed, I am looking to choose an antivirus solution for my WHS. I currently have to PC’s running Windows Live One Care and want to install a seperate antivirus package on the WHS mainly just to be double sure (all eggs in 1 basket and all that) Avast looks and sounds great but I dont need the additional subscriptions , so was looking towards F-Secure but this price is a bit much. Unsure which to go for now.

Would it be worth doing a side by side review of the 2 product? including costs breakdowns.

Thanks for all the work on the site.

    Hi Rick

You can find our Avast review here http://www.wegotserved.co.uk/2008/01/24/avast-windows-home-server-edition-review/

Great idea to run a side by side - will see what we can do!

My ISP is MSN “powered by Qwest” DSL. As a result I get One Care for free. I have yet to understand why MS does not have a One Care version for WHS.

Especially since it has that One Care “Circle”, which would seem to go hand in hand with a WHS installation.

Thmubs up to F-Secure for giving us more options for WHS security!
I participated in the beta and have had the released version installed for a couple of days now - all going well

  5. Stenton23 Says:

Really good point, Jim! I have OneCare on all my PCs — which means two “circles.”

I’ve suggested to MS that they should offer extended licenses, so people could expand their circles from 3 machines — perhaps a small business edition.

Having OC for WHS would be a natural fit.

I don’t think that the OneCare Target market is business; so maybe a WHS version, but I doubt anything over 10 or 11 licenses will ever be included.
I’m using Kaspersky on my PC’s and F-Secure RC2 on the server, works great and I don’t mind it not being unified.
