Australasian PC magazine ATOMIC has published another article on Windows Home Server this month in the June issue. This follows the 5 page review in last month’s issue. Congratulations to them on commiting more editorial space to WHS.

This one covers Remote Access in a 4 page article. This article is again written by WGS community member Stephen Reeves (Smadge1).

When I was told by Todd Headrick from the WHS Team, that they were planning on releasing “Mommy, Why Is There A Server In The House?” on Amazon for people to buy, I have to admit, I thought he was joking - sure, releasing the rumour around the Net would be a neat extension to the “Stay at Home Server” campaign, but publishing the book for real? Come on!

How wrong I was….! Amazon.com now have the book listed for pre-order. It’s currently out of stock, but fingers crossed it arrives soon and you can get your copy too before they sell out! My advice? Get your order in now!

As part of their “Stay at Home Server” campaign, Microsoft commissioned a children’s book called “Mommy, Why Is There a Home Server In The House”, which for some was the highlight of CES. Takes all sorts

Anyway, the book is a faux parental guidance title used to explain the purpose of Windows Home Server, and is great fun. I have a copy to give away to WGS readers. As ever, just answer this challenging question, and the book is yours.

New Section - Windows Home Server Books

So, work continues on building the site further - this morning I’ve opened up a new section of We Got Served, WHS Books, which will list and track all books published that are relevant to Windows Home Server - I was surprised to see just how many there were already, with more to be published in January and February. I’ll keep this list updated as often as possible, but I always need help with people spotting new titles that are being published, so get in touch if you hear of any.

I’d also like to cover books that aren’t necessarily focused on Windows Home Server, but will help users in the development of their digital home - it could be about devices, wiring, home networking etc. I’ve added a couple of starters, but would love to hear about the essential books and manuals that have helped you develop your own home network. Feel free to leave your comments below.
